The rich flavors of evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk come together with vanilla to create an unforgettable treat that will leave your guests craving more. Whether you’re looking to impress at a gathering or simply treating yourself, this flan is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
  • 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden amber. Quickly pour into a round baking dish and swirl to coat the bottom.
  2. Mix the Custard: Blend the evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour over the caramel in the baking dish.
  3. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the filled baking dish in a larger pan and add hot water halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake for 50-60 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  4. Cool and Serve: Allow cooling in the water bath before refrigerating for at least 4 hours. To serve, run a knife around edges and invert onto a plate.
