Ingredients

  • 450g hot italian sausage
  • 1 onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • pinch red pepper flakes
  • 2 heaping tbsp tomato paste
  • canned tomatoes (28 oz or 796ml)
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 810 sheets of lasagna
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp fresh oregano
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil
  • 3/4 cup ricotta
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup parmesan
  • salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Italian seasoning (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Set aside.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the sausage until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and red pepper flakes.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and canned tomatoes; let simmer until mostly smooth.
  5. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Season to taste.
  6. Break lasagna sheets into smaller pieces and add them to the boiling broth.
  7. Once noodles are nearly cooked, stir in heavy cream and return to simmer.
  8. Add back the sausage along with minced herbs; adjust seasoning if needed.
  9. Mix ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese in a separate bowl for topping.
  10. Serve hot with cheese topping and additional fresh herbs if desired.
