Ingredients
- 450g hot italian sausage
- 1 onion
- 5 garlic cloves
- pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 heaping tbsp tomato paste
- canned tomatoes (28 oz or 796ml)
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8–10 sheets of lasagna
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp fresh oregano
- 1 tbsp fresh basil
- 3/4 cup ricotta
- 1/2 cup mozzarella
- 1/4 cup parmesan
- salt & pepper (to taste)
- Italian seasoning (to taste)
Instructions
- Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Set aside.
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the sausage until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Stir in tomato paste and canned tomatoes; let simmer until mostly smooth.
- Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Season to taste.
- Break lasagna sheets into smaller pieces and add them to the boiling broth.
- Once noodles are nearly cooked, stir in heavy cream and return to simmer.
- Add back the sausage along with minced herbs; adjust seasoning if needed.
- Mix ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese in a separate bowl for topping.
- Serve hot with cheese topping and additional fresh herbs if desired.
