Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 cups sugar

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples, then insert sticks into their tops.
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and lightly spray it with cooking spray.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan.
  4. Heat over medium until the thermometer registers 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  6. Dip each apple into the melted sugar mixture, allowing excess to drip off before placing on the prepared wax paper to cool and harden.
