  • 3/4 cup salted butter, cubed and cold
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk + 12 tsp extra, as needed
  • 12 tbsp heavy cream, for brushing tops of biscuits
  • coarse sugar, for sprinkling
  • 1 and 1/4 cups cold heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep the strawberries by mixing them with sugar and optional jam. Chill in the refrigerator.
  2. For the biscuits, mix dry ingredients, cut in cold butter, then combine with buttermilk until a dough forms.
  3. Shape the dough and fold several times to create layers, then cut into biscuits.
  4. Bake chilled biscuits until golden brown.
  5. Prepare whipped cream by beating together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  6. Serve by slicing biscuits in half and layering with strawberries and whipped cream.
