Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags (or 4 tsp loose leaf)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 large orange (zest and juice)
  • Optional: 2 star anises
  • Sweetener: honey or sugar (to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slices (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a saucepan. While waiting, zest the orange to get about one teaspoon of zest.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add tea bags, cinnamon sticks, and orange zest (plus star anises if using). Cover and steep for 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Juice the orange while the tea steeps. After steeping, remove tea bags and strain the mixture into another container. Stir in the fresh orange juice and sweeten to taste.
  4. Allow tea to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
  5. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with fresh orange slices and additional cinnamon sticks or star anise.
