Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground lean turkey
- 2 cups diced apples
- 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp salt (divided)
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- a sprinkle nutmeg
- 1–2 cans kidney beans (optional)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Sauté the diced apples, sweet potatoes, and carrots for about 5 minutes with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
- Stir in tomato paste and spices until well combined.
- Incorporate crushed tomatoes and simmer for 20-30 minutes on low-medium heat. If using kidney beans, add them before serving.
